Exenium is a cryptocurrency exchange run by a chat-bot for the most popular messengers, Telegram, Facebook messenger, WhatsApp and Discord.

How it works:

Exenium is a cryptocurrency exchange platform that operates via bots in the most popular messengers. Namely, Telegram, Facebook messenger, WhatsApp and Discord.

It features a simple and easy to use interface in the messenger a user already got used to, the ability to trade from any device at any time and architecture that protects users from DDOS attacks and hacking.

The platform also promises low commission fees and a set of tools for managing users’ investment portfolios.

Exenium claims they have significantly improved security, but provide no sufficient explanation of how their improvement works other than it being hidden behind the messenger interface.

Even though this startup involves trendy buzz words like cryptocurrency and chatbots it has nothing innovative to offer. Especially so, with Coinbase introducing a third party trading chat bot.

Token value:

XNT doesn’t act like a share and doesn’t entitle token holders to a part of company’s distributable income.

Exenium plans to ensure the the liquidity of their token by burning the tokens that are used to pay for services within the system. Since paying with XNT will have a number of advantages, it will be used by most customers and this ensures slow burning of existing XNT mass.

Naturally, as the user base of the platform grows and the amount of XNT decrease, the token will see a rise in price.

White paper:

Exenium white paper is of low quality. On its 19 pages it only has space to talk about each aspect that a white paper should cover for no more than two pages. For instance, the functioning of the platform is explained with an infographic and one paragraph of text.

The white paper also includes information on what problems ICOs face and how this project is different. The problems that current exchange platforms have and Exenium solution to them are outlined in one page of text that is not rich with concrete details.

The better part of the white paper covers token sale and related issues.

Currently the team has translated the bot in German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean and Arabic. It is unclear is it beta or alpha version, but right now it is only available in Telegram.

Further plans are laid out up to September 2018. They include implementation of payment system for depositing and withdrawing fiat, development of advanced trading tools and porting the bot to other messengers. Taking into account that the real number of team members in unknown, some of the deadlines seem rather unrealistic.

Business model:

The business model that Exenium uses is classic and profitable. They mention specific revenue streams that include the following. Depending on user status and monthly trading volume the platform charges a fee of approximately 0.2% for closing a trade. It also charges a fee for depositing or withdrawing funds.

Token sellers will be charged a fee for including new tokens in the list of tradable assets and will have an opportunity to advertise their token on the platform.

Users can utilize tools for portfolio management and trading for a certain sum and change their trader status to enhance the limits of withdrawals and have a priority in the customer support.

Representation of the team is insufficient to say the least. Official site only mentions six people, three being advisors. Even though, it provides a list of friends of the project below the team section, the role of these friends is unclear.

Three people mentioned on the site that are actual members of the team are CEO, Marketing Director and Tech Lead. No experience of theirs is mentioned. The CEO is given a short bio that reads “A cryptocurrency evangelist, blockchain strategist”.

One of the advisors is the president of World Blockchain Foundation. The other is mentioned as a PhD in International Law, but none of his experience is given in the bio.

Team score: Low

It might be too late for Exenium to jump on the bandwagon of cryptocurrency exchange. The market is full of already established exchange platforms and startups that beat Exenium’s unique feature by developing an app or their own messenger bot.

Unless Exenium finds its own niche in this industry, it is up against very tough competition.
